(A Biographical Sketch)


Ashin Vimala (a) FNU VIMALA was born on Wednesday April 5, 1968, the 12th waxing of Tagu, 1330 Myanmar Era of Burmese (Kawja) Calendar, in Zeephupin Village, Salin Township, Magwe Division, Burma (Myanmar).

His parents were U Ngwe Maung and Daw Mya Hlaing, who provided the four requisites for his novitate when he was fourteen years of age, under the Preceptorship of Venerable Bhaddanta Marla from Yokesone Kyaung, Zeephupin Village, Salin Township, Magwe Division in the 14th waxing of Kasone, 1344 Myanmar Era on Thursday May 6, 1982.

On Friday May 13, 1988 the 13th wanning day of Kasone in 1350 Myanmar Era, On reaching the age of twenty, he was ordained a Bhikkhu (monk) at Khanda Sima Hall, Yokesone Kyaung, Zeephupin Village, Salin Township under the preceptorship of Venerable U Tejinda. His supporters of the four requisites were Daw Win Tin’s sibling from Zeephupin village.

Venerable Bhaddanta Marla and Venerable U Tejinda are from Yokeson Kyaung, Zeephupin Village,Salin Township: Venerable Bhaddanta Nyaneinda from Sinpyujun Kyaung, Chauk: Venerable Bhaddanta Pandatesa Biwansa from Nyaungyan Mandalay: Venerable Bhaddanta Zayadisa Biwansa are his Pariyatti sayadaw. He then also passed his primary, Middle, higher Pathamapyan examination and the Viniyadika examination which were held by the government. He also studied English language on the other hand.

He was preaching and teaching Pariyatti for the primary and middle classes. He was also a member of wansaung sayadaw at Mahasi Meditation Missionary for the promotion of the Patipatti sasana while residing and serving his responsibilities at Mahasi Meditation Center in Yangon Myanmar for three years.

On March 4, 2002 he arrived at the Loka Chantha Monastery or the Universal Peace Buddha Temple in New York on the invitation of the America Burma Buddhist Association, assigned by the Venerable Ashin Indaka (chief monk).
